Hands-on Pool Lifeguard and Pool Lifeguard Refresher courses in Rockhampton

Practical training in Rockhampton and Yeppoon

Reef Training & Aquatics provides practical Pool Lifeguard and Pool Lifeguard Refresher training across Rockhampton, Yeppoon and Central Queensland.

Our Rockhampton and Yeppoon courses are designed for people wanting to work as qualified pool lifeguards in aquatic centres, public pools, council pools, school pools, swim schools, lagoons, resorts and recreation facilities.

Training is hands-on and built around the real skills lifeguards need on shift, including aquatic supervision, scanning, rescue response, communication, emergency care, teamwork and risk management.

Pool Lifeguard courses run every 6 weeks from the 2nd World War Memorial Aquatic Centre in Rockhampton and Yeppoon Lagoon on the Capricorn Coast. These locations give students access to two different aquatic environments: a structured aquatic centre setting and a busy public lagoon environment.

Training is delivered on behalf of ABC First Aid RTO 3399.

WW2 Aquatic Centre Rockhampton

2nd World War Memorial Aquatic Centre — Rockhampton

The 2nd World War Memorial Aquatic Centre, also known as Southside Pool, is a major aquatic facility located in South Rockhampton. The facility includes a 50 metre heated pool, a 25 metre pool, shade areas, toilets and accessible facilities, making it a practical environment for Pool Lifeguard training. Rockhampton Regional Council also lists the centre as having 25 metre and 50 metre pools, both shaded, along with a wet play area and diving tower.

For students, this venue provides a realistic aquatic centre environment where lifeguard skills can be developed in a setting similar to where many pool lifeguards work. The facility supports practical training in supervision, scanning, rescue response, emergency teamwork and risk awareness across different pool areas. This location is suitable for students travelling from Rockhampton, Wandal, Allenstown, The Range, Gracemere, Park Avenue, Frenchville, Berserker and surrounding Central Queensland communities.
Yeppoon Lagoon

Yeppoon Lagoon —
Capricorn Coast

Yeppoon Lagoon is a well-known beachfront aquatic facility on the Capricorn Coast. The lagoon is a 2,500 square metre resort-style lagoon pool located on the beachfront, with a shallow children’s play area, informal lap swimming area and swim-up infinity edge overlooking the Keppel Islands. For Pool Lifeguard training, Yeppoon Lagoon offers a different type of training environment to a traditional lap pool. It gives students exposure to a public, open, family-focused aquatic setting where lifeguards need strong supervision, communication and prevention skills.

This venue is useful for developing confidence in patron awareness, hazard identification, positioning, scanning, early intervention and response planning in a more dynamic aquatic environment.

Yeppoon Lagoon is a convenient option for students from Yeppoon, Taranganba, Cooee Bay, Emu Park, Zilzie, Lammermoor, Rockhampton and the wider Capricorn Coast.
