The SISCAQU020 Perform Water Rescues course develops the practical skills and knowledge required to assess aquatic emergencies and complete safe, effective rescues in indoor and outdoor swimming environments. Participants learn to select appropriate rescue methods, use suitable rescue equipment and respond promptly to casualties in built or natural aquatic venues.
Learning Outcomes
The SISCAQU020 Perform Water Rescues course is suitable for people working across sport, fitness, aquatic and recreation organisations, including commercial, not-for-profit, community and government settings.
It is designed for workers who may be required to respond to an aquatic emergency, including pool lifeguards, swimming teachers, aqua exercise instructors, outdoor recreation leaders and other personnel responsible for participant safety.
Participants develop the judgement and practical skills needed to assess rescue situations, select appropriate rescue techniques, use available equipment and manage incidents in line with established organisational rescue procedures.
