Our Mackay Training Locations

Mackay Aquatic & Recreation Complex, Bluewater Lagoon and Tommy Webster Hall provide ideal locations in the Mackay region

Mackay ARC

Mackay ARC

Mackay Aquatic & Recreation Complex is one of the region’s major aquatic and sporting facilities, located at the CQUniversity campus in Ooralea. The venue includes a FINA-approved 50 metre pool, a covered 25 metre pool and a heated 15 metre programs pool, making it a strong practical environment for Pool Lifeguard training. (mackayarc.com.au)

For students completing Pool Lifeguard or Pool Lifeguard Refresher training, Mackay ARC provides access to a professional aquatic setting where skills can be developed in a realistic pool environment. The combination of lap swimming areas, program pools and open facility space allows students to practise supervision, scanning, rescue response, emergency teamwork and practical lifeguard scenarios in a setting similar to where many lifeguards will work.

This location is especially suitable for students looking to work in aquatic centres, council pools, school pools, swim schools and recreation facilities across Mackay and the wider region.
Bluewater Lagoon

Bluewater Lagoon

Bluewater Lagoon is one of Mackay’s most recognisable public aquatic spaces, located near the Pioneer River in the Mackay city centre. The facility includes lagoon-style swimming areas, varying water depths, a waterfall connecting lagoon areas and a water slide, creating a very different training environment to a standard lap pool. (Mackay Regional Council)

Using Bluewater Lagoon as part of Pool Lifeguard training gives students exposure to the type of busy, open, family-focused aquatic environment that many lifeguards work in. It is particularly useful for practising supervision, patron awareness, positioning, hazard identification and response planning in a more dynamic public setting.

This venue helps students understand that lifeguarding is not just about rescue skills. It is also about prevention, communication, scanning, early intervention and managing risk in real-world aquatic environments.
Tommy Webster Memorial Hall

Tommy Webster Memorial Hall

Tommy Webster Memorial Hall is a local community venue in Walkerston, approximately 14 kilometres south-west of Mackay. The hall is fully accessible and includes off-street parking, a large hall space, foyer/reception area, kitchen and cold room facilities. (SpacetoCo)

This venue provides a practical and comfortable setting for weekly First Aid and CPR courses. The open hall layout gives students room to complete hands-on CPR practice, first aid scenarios, bandaging activities and group-based learning without feeling crowded.

Walkerston is also a convenient location for participants travelling from Mackay, Marian, Mirani, Sarina, the Pioneer Valley and surrounding communities. By running weekly courses from Tommy Webster Memorial Hall, Reef Training & Aquatics provides a regular local option for workers, businesses, volunteers and community members needing First Aid or CPR training without relying only on central Mackay venues.

Onsite training across Mackay

For businesses, schools, community groups and organisations, Reef Training & Aquatics can also travel across Mackay to deliver onsite First Aid and CPR training.

Onsite training is ideal for workplaces that want staff trained together in their own environment. It can reduce travel time, limit disruption to the workday and make it easier to connect training back to the specific risks of the workplace.

We can deliver onsite First Aid and CPR training for offices, schools, childcare services, industrial workplaces, tourism operators, sporting clubs, community groups and local businesses across Mackay and surrounding areas.
