We regularly operate from Smithfield Pool and Tobruk Memorial Pool
Our Pool Lifeguard course is designed for people wanting to work as qualified pool lifeguards in aquatic centres, resorts, schools, swim schools, public pools and leisure facilities. This course focuses on practical rescue skills, supervision, emergency response, risk management and the core knowledge needed to operate safely in an aquatic environment.
For existing lifeguards needing to renew or update their skills, we offer regular Pool Lifeguard Refresher training in Cairns. This is ideal for aquatic centre staff, seasonal lifeguards and workers needing to maintain current industry requirements.
For surf lifesavers and Bronze Medallion holders, our Bronze to Pool Lifeguard transition pathway helps bridge existing lifesaving skills into the pool lifeguard environment. This is a great option for surf club members wanting to expand their employment opportunities into aquatic centres, council pools, schools and resorts.
Our Perform Water Rescue course is designed for people who supervise or support activities in and around water but may not need the full Pool Lifeguard qualification. This course is suitable for teachers, school staff, outdoor recreation providers, youth program leaders, aquatic staff, community groups and workplaces that operate near pools, beaches, rivers or other aquatic environments.
Our First Aid courses are practical, paper-free and designed for real-world confidence. They are suitable for workplaces, aquatic staff, teachers, coaches, community groups and anyone who needs nationally recognised first aid training.
Our CPR courses are suitable for people needing to renew their annual CPR certification or meet workplace, aquatic, education or industry requirements.
Swim teacher training is available upon request for facilities, swim schools and group bookings. Contact us to discuss upcoming opportunities or private course options.
Reef Training & Aquatics focuses on practical, supportive and industry-relevant training. Our courses are designed for people who actually need to use these skills in the real world, whether that is supervising a pool, responding to a first aid incident, supporting a school aquatic program or stepping into paid lifeguard work.
We keep training clear, hands-on and engaging, with experienced trainers who understand aquatic environments, emergency response and the realities of frontline work.
We aim to run Cairns Pool Lifeguard and related aquatic training on a regular fortnightly basis, subject to pool availability, trainer availability and enrolment numbers.
Students can book into upcoming public courses, while aquatic centres, schools and organisations can contact us to arrange private group training.
