Our Swimming and Water Safety Teacher course develops confident, workplace ready swim teachers who can safely and effectively deliver swimming and water safety programs from day one. This course delivers the nationally recognised skill set SISSS00132 Swimming and Water Safety Teacher.
Nationally recognised the skill set includes the following units of competency.
SISCAQU020 Perform Water Rescues, SISCAQU023 Plan Swimming Lessons, SISCAQU024 Teach water familiarisation buoyancy and mobility skills, SISCAQU025 Teach Water safety and survival skills and SISCAQU026 teach swimming strokes.
The course is delivered in three streamlined sections, combining flexible learning with practical, on the job application.
- Online Learning (pre course)
- Practical 1 day workshop. the hands on workshop focuses on progressive skill development.
- Workplace Delivery and sign off. Participants deliver six workplace lessons 2x Water familiarisation and buoyancy, 2x Water Safety and survival skills 2x Stroke lessons.
There are no mandated minimum hours, sign off occurs once both the employer and participant are confident in independent lesson delivery, supporting real world staffing and operational needs.
